A Message from Gerrie

Do you remember a time when everything around you was changing? It’s a common occurrence today with the lightening speed at which a story reaches the masses, the new challenges facing children, and the continual change in the business world that is the ‘new normal’.

I’ve felt it myself with some of the new developments in my business and personal changes over the past 18 months.

And yet, some people are able to ‘ride the wave’ and aren’t impacted by the force of change.

  • Have you ever noticed that or wondered what their secret it?

I’ve been researching this question to access the secrets of these highly successful people whose lives reflect the pursuit of . . .

  • Success vs. significance
  • Money vs. meaning
  • Power vs. purpose

The secret is about upleveling what Gay Hendricks refers to as your ‘upper limit’. Other experts refer to it as your ‘set point’. A surprising fact is that highly successful people continually make the leap past their ‘set point’, and they’ve learned the secret to moving past what holds them back.

The good news is that you can unlock the door to these secrets … they are simple but not easy:

  • Let go of life long beliefs about what’s NOT possible
  • Embrace a positive mindset
  • Uplevel your ‘success set point’

I’m really excited about what I’ve uncovered in my recent research, so I’m dedicating the next few editions of Success Matters to outlining highlights that you can apply immediately.

Read my Feature Article below, “What would you do if . . . .?” to expand your awareness about what’s possible for you!

Feature Article:
“What would you do if . . . ?”

One of the most common themes that I’ve observed in leaders during the past 12 months is a focus on execution … getting the project to completion and delivering on outcomes while feeling overwhelmed with minimal time to step back and assess … what is my bigger purpose in doing what I’m doing?

So, we’ll start with 3 questions to ask yourself:

  • What would you do if you could not fail?
  • What would you do if no one paid you to do it?
  • What makes you come alive?

Actually, many clients have difficulty answering these questions. They only see the obstacles, resist thinking bigger because of ‘the economy’, or fear of success, failure, or being rejected.

As Gay Hendricks wrote in his book, The Big Leap, it takes being open to change and learning and letting go of the need to be right and what’s not working.

  • Are you open to taking the first step in a Big Leap by trying out one NEW behavior over the next month to stretch yourself and move out of your comfort zone?

If you feel a bit anxious and excited at the same time, even better! You’re on the right path of growth!

But, proceed at your own risk!

You may feel more fulfilled each day, increase your financial health, or see new opportunities that previously were invisible, and much more! This work is not for the faint of heart.

Below is a list of behaviors related to 9 themes that Linda Austin, author of ‘What’s Holding You Back’, identified as holding women back, but many executive-level men have confirmed that these hold true for men, also … So, these are NOT gender specific!

What is one NEW Behavior you commit to taking this month?
Take the First Step in a BIG LEAP!

Courageous Behavior:

  1. Take a bold stand or venture into the unknown.
  2. Delegate a task that you automatically would have done yourself, feeling like you can do it better yourself.
  3. Propose a new, innovative idea or a unique, creative solution (This is a BIG stretch!).

  1. Mention the value that you contributed to a project in a conversational way, accept a compliment about the value that you contributed, or avoid minimizing your value.
  2. Initiate a negotiating conversation by ASKing … make it a BIG ASK or a small ASK.
  3. Speak up in meetings, assertively.

  1. Embrace risk and challenge by taking a LEAP forward
  2. Move forward in a competitive situation
  3. Courageously take a bold step forward that you previously perceived to be ‘too bold’

  • Select one NEW behavior to uplevel your ‘success set point’.
  • Make a note about reactions from other people … most often, they don’t notice! It’s your inner road map that you’re changing.
  • Celebrate your courage!

Join us at the Ignite Your Impact Retreat on June 21 in Radnor, PA to expand your vision and perspective even more!
