Here are a few questions to ask yourself about your current resume for each bulleted item:

  • How relevant is it, today?
  • Does it align with my strengths, and clearly describe what I excel at doing?
  • How distinct is it … or would the reader think to himself, ‘Who cares?’

Put yourself in the position of your boss, the owner of the company, or a hiring manager. You have either 8 direct reports whose performance review you need to write OR you have just been given a stack of 100 resumes to review for an open position.

Through the research results, they found that 75% of customers prefer blue over red socks. If you are a retail store trying to decide about which would sell better, it would make sense to invest in this research.
