the research process, the question, 'so what?' is also known as
the ‘‘Laugh Test’’ and, as such, has been applied in a variety of human
endeavors, ranging from aircraft design to political campaigns. It is the
ultimate test to which we should apply both our work and ourselves. To do less
is to betray both ourselves and our profession.
